BARE Movement Co. is a 16+ contemporary movement company for studio-trained dancers ready to expand their versatility, deepen their artistry, and step into a more professional creative environment.
Created as a bridge between studio training and the professional world, BARE gives dancers the opportunity to continue growing as artists while gaining real performance and creative experience. Through training, mentorship, and collaborative projects, dancers are challenged to develop their individuality, build confidence, and discover how they want to show up as performers.
At the heart of BARE is a belief that movement is a powerful way to tell stories. Our work explores the relationship between choreography and the world surrounding it, using music, sound, visual elements, and creative direction to build immersive experiences. Inspired by the cinematic side of movement, we focus on creating plot driven work where character, atmosphere, and emotion help guide the audience through each story.
BARE is built on collaboration. Dancers and choreographers are encouraged to bring their own perspectives into the process, creating work that grows through shared ideas and creative exploration. Each experience is designed to leave dancers with something meaningful to carry forward, from performance opportunities and new skills to work they are proud to share.

PERFORMANCE
OPPORTUNITIES
Perform throughout the season in original productions and creative projects designed to challenge you as both a dancer and performer. Each experience develops your stage presence, adaptability, and confidence while giving you the opportunity to perform work created with purpose.
CAMERA
& SCREEN EXPERIENCE
Develop confidence performing for the camera through filmed projects and creative shoots. Learn how movement translates to screen while gaining experience with multiple takes, camera awareness, and performance for film and digital media.
CREATIVE PORTFOLIO BUILDING
Leave with more than memories. Throughout the season, dancers build a portfolio of professional photos, performance footage, and creative projects that can be used for auditions, applications, reels, and personal promotion.
MENTORSHIP & GUEST ARTISTS
Train alongside experienced choreographers and guest artists who bring a range of creative perspectives and industry experience. Through workshops, rehearsals, and feedback, dancers gain insight into different creative processes while continuing to grow as artists.
Behind BARE
Our Story
BARE began as a single production under the name BARE Dance YYC. What was originally intended to be a one time project quickly grew into something much bigger, bringing together dancers and choreographers who wanted to keep creating, collaborating, and performing beyond the traditional studio experience.
As the company evolved, so did its vision. It became clear that BARE was more than a performance project. It was a place for artists to train, explore new ideas, and create work with purpose. That evolution led to the transition from BARE Dance YYC to BARE Movement Co., a name that fully encompasses who we are today.
Today, BARE Movement Co. is dedicated to developing artists through versatile training, original productions, and collaborative creative experiences. We continue to create opportunities for dancers to grow, perform, and build meaningful experience while telling stories that connect with audiences.
Under the Direction of Brianne Martin
Brianne Martin is a choreographer, performer, educator, and creative director with more than 15 years of experience in the dance industry. After several years working professionally in Los Angeles and Calgary, Brianne has developed a passion for creating story driven contemporary work and developing opportunities for the next generation of artists.
As Company Director, Bri leads the creative vision of BARE Movement Co. Her work is driven by a passion for storytelling, creating productions that combine movement with music, plot, and visual elements to build immersive experiences.
At the heart of BARE is a commitment to developing artists. Brianne is passionate about creating opportunities for dancers where they can gain meaningful experiences to carry beyond the studio. Whether a dancer is pursuing a professional career or simply looking for a place to keep creating, her goal is to provide an environment where they feel challenged, supported, and inspired.
